It all started one day in 1975.   Walking with a friend, I happened upon the most beautiful little dog I had ever seen.  This little white fluff ball touched my heart in a way I could not believe. I was smitten! So began my journey into the world of the Bichon Frise. 

     Our first Bichon puppy, Fluff, joined the family in the summer of 1976. He was a handsome boy out of the De Le Land de Belville line. A female named Mopsy joined the family within the next year, and after a proper courtship and marriage with Fluff, had a beautiful litter of 8 in May of 1979.  We kept two of their puppies: Ceane and Bruno, and started a lifetime love affair with this affectionate, expressive breed.  We quickly learned the truth in the saying "You do not own a Bichon, a Bichon owns you!"

     After many years of owning pets, I became excited about the idea of purchasing a show dog and trying my hand at grooming/handling my own dog. In 2003, I finished my first champion, CH LeVerre's Baleycreme Prelude (Baley) exclusively owner-handled. Soon afterwards, my daughters, Amy and Julie, began accompanying me to shows and subsequently got bitten by the 'Show Bug'.  They have since become an integral part of Prelude Bichons and have finished numerous Prelude champions.  They each have become expert breeder-owner-handlers in their own right. Together, our energy has been focused on breeding and showing beautiful Bichons Frises, and to date we have finished 47 champions.

     We continually strive to breed healthy, intelligent, well-tempered Bichons. OFA Health testing (Hips, eyes, cardiac, patellas) is done on all breeding stock.  Several times a year we meet in the wee hours of the night to lovingly

whelp our Prelude litters. We anxiously welcome these puppies into each

of our homes, providing them with endless amounts of love and

socialization. We do not operate a separate kennel facility; our dogs are

part of our homes.  I reside in Orwigsburg, PA with my husband John. Amy,

her husband Mike, and children Jonathan and Anna, reside in Hatfield, PA.

Julie and daughters Elizabeth and Olivia, reside in Macungie, PA. 

    

     Prelude Bichons will continue the tradition of breeding fine show dogs.
